    Product feature
    1. Backpack technical tests.
We carry out laboratory tests to check the components: fabric, buckles, straps, foam, zips ... Example, for a fabric: abrasion resistance, tear strength, colour fastness under UV, washing, waterproofing ... Then a test on the finished product that replicates accelerated stresses on the bag over the years to check the durability of its assemblies: it's placed, filled with weights, on a dummy which imitates the movements of rapid walking over thousands of cycles.
    2. 10-year guarantee, technical partnership
The heavy stitching research and development department, Quechua's partner for research and validation of its components and assemblies, has conducted tests simulating the ageing of backpacks. These tests focus on the components, seams and the finished product. Their results allow Quechua to guarantee the bags tested for a period of 10 years from the date of purchase indicated on the receipt.
    3. 10-year guarantee, conditions
The guarantee covers defects to the backpack, excluding those resulting from normal wear and abnormal use conditions. This special 10-year guarantee will be honoured only on presentation of the product and receipt. If the product is under guarantee, it will be repaired or replaced free of charge. This commercial guarantee does not exclude the legal guarantees applicable according to country and/or State.
    4. How is the volume of bags measured?
The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: we use small balls to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. Then we empty the balls into a graduated container, which then gives us the equivalent volume in litres, with a tolerance of a few %. The empty weight shown is that of our reference sample. There may be slight variations.
    5. How to adjust my backpack?
FIRST, LOOSEN all the straps (shoulder straps, waistband, load adjusters). PUT THE BAG ON. For bags of 50 l or more, PLACE THE BELT ON THE HIPS (it must accommodate the iliac bones of the pelvis) and TIGHTEN IT. For smaller volumes, it goes around the waist. TIGHTEN THE SHOULDER STRAPS. Finally, ADJUST THE LOAD ADJUSTERS to suit.
    6. How to fill my backpack?
Place your bedding at the bottom. Nearest your back, place the heavy items (tent, stove, food). Clothes are then arranged around them. The ground sheet can be placed under the flap; the tent can go under the bag if there's no room inside. Keep waterproof jacket and fleece within easy reach. The day's "small" items can be placed in the pockets (sun lotion, map, sunglasses...). The water bladder can be placed in the pocket generally provided along the back.
    7. A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated across its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is attributed to help you more readily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. For more information visit:

I bought this bag with the description of it having 4 pockets. There are only 3 and none inside the bag. All pockets are iutdide. Very deceptive description. I am very unhappy with the ourchase.
Pockets were 3 not 4 as described.

Stylish, attractive colours, light weight and comfortable to use. Ideal for college or use as a day backpack. Keen price. Exterior pocket for drink bottle. Small zipped pocket for first aid kit, compas, whistle and torch etc. Good adjustment on straps. Good value for money , and is as good as many more well known and expensive makes.
      All above
      Nothing, pleased with this product

    • Arpenaz 30 Backpack - Light grey/green: flap faste

Just the right size, I bought 4 of these for each member of our family for our recent 2 week holiday in Italy, compact, not too large but large enough to get clothes and shoes in, swimwear and towels and I still took too much with me!
      Size and style

This bag is a bargain. I have bags with dozens of pockets but I wanted a simple straightforward bag for my trip up Mt Snowdon. It held my waterproofs, food, water and bits and bobs and was very comfortable to wear. If you know how to pack a bag a single main compartment is no problem the top pocket is the size of the flap so roomy for all the things you need to hand and the mesh pockets held nalgene 1lt bottles - not always possible on cheaper bags.

Buckles and straps were fine though I had the chest strap fully extended but I'm broad shouldered. It fit me well with loads of adjustment elsewhere.

As for waterproof. Nope. At this price I didn't want or expect it to be. I never fully trust a bag to be waterproof and with one big main compartment a thick binliner is an easy addition to make it waterproof! There's a rain cover available separately but I personally don't get on with them.

I can lash my poles to the attachments on the front too.

If I have one moan it's the thumb loops. I did use them once to hold my poles for a minute when I needed my hands free but I find them a bit superfluous and the flap around in your peripheral vision at times. A minor issues and nit picking.

As you can probably tell I'm very impressed with this bag for this price. I don't expect it to last decades of hard use but it seems well stitched and put together so only time will tell. Well done Decathlon. Great product at a keen price.
