Dual-material lining: mesh upper body to enhance the garment's breathability/nylon around the hips and sleeves to optimise ease of movement and resistance to wear.
    7. Waterproof fabric
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed as a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A waterproof rating of 2000 mm means that the fabric can withstand the pressure exerted by 2000 mm of water (the equivalent of nearly a two hour downpour).
    8. Garment waterproofing
This garment has been shower-tested using 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of typical mountain rainfall.
    9. Fabric breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour (generated through physical activity) is able to evaporate, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric/9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric/12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric/RET > 20 = little or no breathability.
    10. Fabric with coating or membrane
Coating: like a layer of "paint" applied on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane: is like a very fine plastic film (polyurethane) making the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the edge, being more supple, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than coating.
    11. Water repellent fabric
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water to slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from becoming saturated, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water-repellent treatment.
    12. Additional recommended products
Care products: spray or liquid water repellent treatment in the washing machine. Helps renew fabric's water-repellent properties and optimise your garment performance throughout its life.
    13. A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated across its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is allocated to help you more readily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. For more information visit:

I bought this jacket after being soaked in a hiking trip with a Kathmandu jacket and works very well. I have used it in all types of rain and wind and has kept me warm and dry. I love the color and the feminine shape. I really recommend all the waterproof clothes that Decathlon has

    • Quechua Arpenaz 300 women's jacket

      Sharon (United Kingdom)
Used for 1 week or less
A really well made jacket with quality zips and a great fit. However, after wearing the jacket for one week (I'm a professional dog walker), I was disappointed to find it wasn't waterproof in heavy rain. After walking for 3 hours in heavy rain, my clothes underneath were soggy!
Very well made jacket. Great in light rain showers
      Not waterproof in heavy rain!
      Response of the brand

Thanks for your feedback on the Quechua Arpenaz 300 waterproof jacket and I apologise for the delay is responding. This jacket is tested to around 5000mm waterproofing which, in the UK, is moderate intensity. You can see how it is done here: With you being out in British elements for longer periods of time I would recommend a jacket with slightly more waterproofing, an example being toe Forclaz 400, you can see it here: This one is testing up to 10,000mm so will stand up to more intensive downpours.

Once again, sorry for the delay. If you are still looking I hope this helps.

      Many thanks
