Rain-Cut Pant overtrousers or waterproof leggings for complete protection for the lower legs and provide comprehensive and highly effective protection from the most violent storms. Care products: spray or liquid water repellent treatment in the washing machine. To renew the fabric's water repellent properties and optimise the garment's performance throughout its lifespan.
    10. Waterproof component
We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure withstood, the more waterproof the fabric. A waterproof rating of 2000 mm means the fabric can withstand the pressure exerted by 2000 mm of water (the equivalent of a rain shower lasting for two hours).
    11. Waterproof garment
Technology: this garment has been subjected to a shower test using 100 litres of water/sqm/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
    12. Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
    13. Garment breathability
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets, overtrousers and rain capes (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems allow you to regulate the temperature inside the garment and also to facilitate the transfer of perspiration generated by the body during effort.
    14. Water repellent component
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. This is achieved through a treatment applied to the fabric's exterior. This treatment needs to be repeated throughout the product's life (we recommend every 3 washes). All Quechua waterproof ponchos and capes have received a water repellent treatment.
    15. A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environemental impact is calculated across its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is attributed to help you more readily identify the products with the best environemental performance by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. For more information visit

    • Poncho on the Camino

      Michael (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I saw a lot of comment on Camino forums about other poncho makes which are not available in the UK.
This poncho from Decathlon cost less and when I finally compared it to the other make on the Camino I found it to be not only better value but seems to use a stronger fabric.(and thus weighing a little more)
Wore it first on a very wet and windy crossing to Roncesvalles and it kept me and my backpack both warm and dry.
Full zip and velcro. Under arm vents with zip
