Care products: waterproofing spray or liquid in the machine To renew the fabric's water repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
    9. Main component
      3 layer membrane fabric.
    10. Waterproof component
We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure withstood, the more waterproof the fabric. Components scoring 2,000 mm can resist the pressure from 2,000 mm of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting about one hour).
    11. Waterproof garment
Technology: this garment has been subjected to a shower test using 100 litres of water/sqm/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
    12. Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
    13. Garment breathability
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets and overtrousers (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems allow you to regulate the temperature inside the garment and also to facilitate the transfer of perspiration generated by the body during physical effort.
    14. Water repellent component
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All the Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water-repellent treatment.
    15. A socre for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated across its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is attributed to help you more readily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. For more information visit:

    • Superbly designed jacket

      John (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Waterproof; breathable. Plenty of pockets. Under-arm openings. Folds small and light for packing. Actually like the colour too. Felt a bit conspicuous on one occasion, in Victoria, BC. Went into Tilley travel clothing store to remove jacket and have a look around and the store assistant admired the jacket and the colour. I enjoyed that moment!

One small fault: velcro patch on left arm became loose on first use. Returned for refund, as had already ordered replacement. Will watch performance on replacement and report here if further issues encountered.
      Well designed in all respects
      Small fault on arm
