    Product feature
    1. Footwear waterproofing test.
Footwear waterproofing test: Tested in the laboratory and in use, shoes equipped with waterproof and breathable membrane ensure optimum protection against rain. First immersed in water under air pressure, the absence of bubbles is checked on the surface of the boot. Then they are placed, half submerged, on a mechanical arm simulating a step, we then check that the inside of the shoe remains perfectly dry.
    2. 3 levels of waterproofing.
During the waterproofness test, we test three levels of impermeability, i.e. 2000 flexions (about 2H00 of walking), 4000 flexions (about 4H00 of walking) and 8000 flexions (about 8H00 of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.
    3. Shoe waterproofing level.
The Forclaz 100 Woman's High boot is waterproof for 4000 flexes.
    4. Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
    5. What size to choose?
When taking up hiking, do not hesitate to take a size above your usual shoe size to guarantee an optimal comfort when walking downhill and to avoid your toes rubbing the tops of the shoe. Tip: Before any descent, make sure your nails are cut and check that your laces are tighten to prevent your foot from sliding forward in the shoe.
    6. Field tests.
All our shoes are tested in comfort and in use, by user’s representative of those for whom the products are designed, under conditions identical to those that you can find in use. Moreover, our "Missions Tests" put the product manager n contact with people who are not affiliated with Quechua, to test, develop and validate the products.
    7. Laboratory tests.
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: Tearing of the eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, accelerated aging.

    • Too heavy and hurt my uncle

Used for 2 to 8 weeks
When I tried these shoes on the shop they felt very comfortable. I used them to commute every day for about 3 weeks before I started the hiking.
Unfortunately after my first day of hiking both shoes felt too tight and I could not lace them up any more as it was too uncomfortable. The left shoe was worse as it hurt my big toe nail (it got bruised) and my ankle got swollen.
The hike was only 5 days and I did about 5 hours each day.

      Response of the brand
Hi, Sorry to hear about your experience with the Forclaz 100 hiking boot, I hope you still enjoyed your hike. Please drop back in store as I am sure we can find a more suitable boot for you. From personal experience, on mid to long distance multi-day hikes feet can swell by an extra size causing discomfort should the boot be slightly too small. It took me a while before I could determine whether this was the case or not however I now always go a half size larger for such expeditions. I hope this helps and thanks for your feedback, Chris.
