    • Incredible value

For this money you simply won't get this level of spec anywhere else.

Just a little side note, if you are viewing online only, you may be put off by the pink handlebar tape. When you see it in real life, however, it looks really well and matches the little pink flash on the fizik saddle perfectly.
This bike is phenomenal value at this price.
    • Great bike but not great service.

Bought this bike after watching the Cycling Weekly YouTube Review who awarded it Best Value Bike for 2016. The spec is unbelievable on a bike costing just over £1000. Full Ultegra Groupset, Mavic Cosmic Elite Wheels, Mavic Yksion Tires and a Fizik saddle represent amazing value for money. Yes it is an aluminium frame but it is still a great frame. I have a Scott Foil with an almost identical spec except it is a carbon frame that cost over twice as much as the Btwin but the Btwin is a much better ride.

My only gripe is about Decathlon and not the bike. I bought the bike on the Cycle to Work Scheme and made arrangements to collect it from the Bolton Store. I rang the day before the agreed collection date to be told they'd no record of my order but not a problem they'd still have the bike ready for the agreed date and time. I arrived the following day as per the arrangement to find out they'd set up the wrong bike and it would be nearly 2 hours before they could get my bike sorted. The reason is this Btwin comes from the factory with the brakes set up continental style and they would need to be swapped over to UK style before they would release it and swapping the brakes over isn't a straightforward task. If you are collecting a bike from Decathlon and you have a reasonably long way to travel take care to ensure the bike will be ready when you arrive.

    • Great value, but...

I was really happy with this bike, I love the look of it, really decent spec for the money, a very comfortable ride, seemless shifting and really fast. However, when climbing or really putting some pressure through the peddles when sprinting, the frame flexes beyond what I would consider normal or acceptable, so much so the rear brake calipers rub the rim of the rear wheel. Initially I thought perhaps I hadn't done the QR bolt up tight enough, but after tightening it further, it was clear this wasn't the issue. I have recently called the store to ask their advice and the man simply said "it is very normal" and continued "my colleague has the same bike and he said his does the same. Just loosen the rear brake." He offered to do this for me, but surely he's missing the point. I'm no powerhouse sprinter, far from it. I am 180cm, weigh a fraction over 11 stones/70kg.

I really do love this bike, but before purchasing (as I have), be aware there is a considerable amount of flex in the frame, more than any other I own/have ridden. Such a shame, because in every other way I am really happy with it.
Great value, group set, wheels, seat etc...
Just one, too much flex in the frame
    • great Bike

So far, the 720 AF has been quick, comfortable and hasn't had so much as a squeak or rattle. The aluminium frame is attractive, comfortable and swallows up road buzz.

Aluminium is slightly heavier than carbon but overall the difference between this and my old Planet X is negligible, the whole package feels so sorted and suited that the few hundred extra grams is barely noticeable (plus, I weight 95kg so what's 300g?). The direct-mount brakes are assured and powerful, the Mavic Cosmic Elite wheels are great all-rounders and they've converted me to 25mm (or wider) tyres from now on. Looks-wise the two-tone bars grab attention and overall it's an attractive looking bike.

There's a little flex at the bottom bracket when really stamping on the pedals but that can be forgiven when you remember the spec and price. A £500 groupset, with £300 wheels and a £70 saddle, on a UCI-approved frame. It's a crazy price for a very capable bike.

The only downside is I'd like to have had a choice on stem length/bar width but it's a minor gripe and one you can apply to most bike stores. I can't recommend BTwin enough, they have something for everyone, from new to old riders.
      Spec, comfort, looks.
A choice of stem/handlebar width would be nice.
