    Product feature
    1. Laboratory test
Backpack components are approved in laboratory tests, includingfabric, buckles, webbing, foam, zips, etc. Fabrics are tested for resistance to rubbing, tearing, colour-fastness under UV rays, washing, waterproofing...A test on the final product, which speeds up the effects of impact on the backpack over the years, to check resistance of the assemblies: the backpack is weighted then placed on a dummy which then reproduces the movement of fast walking through thousands of cycles.
    2. 10-year technical partnership guarantee
The heavy stitching research and development department, Quechua's partner for researching and testing its components and assemblies, conducted tests simulating backpack ageing. The tests focused on components, seams and the end product. As a result of these tests, Quechua can guarantee all bags tested for a duration of 10 years from the date of purchase indicated on the sales receipt.
    3. 10-year guarantee, conditions
The guarantee covers any backpack faults, except those caused by normal wear and tear and improper use. This special 10-year guarantee will only be granted upon presentation of the product and sales receipt. If the product is covered by the warranty, it will be repaired free of charge or exchanged. This commercial warranty does not exclude applicable legal warranties depending on the country and/or State.
    4. How is volume measured?
The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. Then we empty these balls into a graduated container, which gives the equivalent volume in litres.
    5. How to adjust your backpack?
1- Loosen all the buckles (straps, belt, load boosters). 2 - Put the backpack on. 3 - For bags of 50 l and more, place the belt on your hips (it must cover the pelvic iliac bones) and tighten it. For smaller volumes, place the belt around the waist. 4 - Tighten the shoulder straps. 5- Adjust the load boosters to your liking.
    6. Adjusting your backpack height?
Set the bag for the height you think will be correct and then adjust it (see. "Adjusting your backpack"). With the belt on your pelvis, put the straps around the front part of your shoulders and the load adjuster straps (which are sometimes also height-adjustable) at an angle of around 45° (they should never be horizontal or vertical). When trying it on, if the back seems too short or too long, readjust and try again until you are satisfied.
    7. How to pack a backpack?
Put your bedding at the bottom. Place heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Pack your clothes around these items. The groundsheet should be placed under the flap and the tent beneath the pack if there is no space inside. Keep a rainproof jacket and fleece close at hand. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. If carrying a hydration pack (water bladder), this should be placed in its special pocket along the back.
    8. Environmental measurements
The environmental impact of each product is calculated for the product's entire life cycle, using different indicators. A general ABCDE mark is attributed to help you identify the best environmental performance by comparing products to each other (t-shirts, rucksacks, etc). Decathlon is a voluntary supporter of the environmentally-friendly labelling approach. For more information visit: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/

it has been 3 weeks since I bought this online. I already have a 50 L symbium backpack fro,m decathlon and wanted a smaller backpack that could double up as a daypack for my EBC trek. 1. it is not as good as the symbium. Even when fully packed, the symbium is so light and non-demanding that I hardly feel it. I had used it during the ABC trek and was very happy with it. 2. The 40litre is very capacious since it has only one compartment- it doesnt even have a pouch to hold the water bladder! I found that very surprising and was disappointed. It does have an opening for the bladder pipe to come out- so thats something at least. 3. the side pockets are not really that accessible and are a little awkward to use because of the side buckles for the main bag flap 4. it has no rain cover...that to me is a big negative. So I went ahead and bought a separate raincover...but the question is where do we store it? and how do we keep the cover clipped so it doesnt fly off in the wind/ heavy rain?? 5. its just really a dumping bag since it has only one huge pocket---some may like that...but after i have used it thrice now, I am not in favour of it---one has to pull out all the stuff inside to get to what one wants--not everything can be packed as per anticipation 6. the chest strap is very awkwardly placed- esp for female users ...its not convenient at all..to me a big minus 7. the ventilation system is good and i am happy with it 8. the waist strap has a tiny pocket which is good for keeping some small snacks or a small mobile phone etc...
On the whole 5/10. Some people may want it exactly like this...then go for it! I am a little unhappy...I would request Quechhua to make a symbium type bag of 40litres....I would happily take that!

I bought this so I could do a walk and overnight camp on the Pennine Way while my Exped was in for repair. I managed to fit in my tent and all my kit for an overnight camp. Well impressed. It was lightweight , great colour. The pockets fitted in my water bottles and my tent poles. Really comfy and performed as well as the more expensive Exped. For the money this is such a good buy. The guarantee and warranty for 10 years how do they do it. I am so impressed with decathlon. The customer service was great and it arrived within 2 days. I am someone who will give negative feedback when warranted but this pack for £30 was great. Did 16 miles and it was so comfy lived it.

Good pack, well made and comfortable to wear all day. Shame it doesn't come with a built in rain cover though.
