    Product feature
    1. Frame
      Aluminium frame with built-in battery. The battery can be charged directly through the frame, or can be removed from its housing to be recharged at home or at work. 20" frame compatible with B'Twin 300 pannier rack.

    9. Care tips
      Tyres lose pressure over time. This is normal since bike inner tubes are slightly porous. Don't forget to check your tyre pressure regularly. Riding with under inflated tyres reduces the life of your battery, requires more pedalling effort and increases the risk of punctures. Before performing any work on your electric bike (cleaning, electrical or mechanical maintenance), you must turn off your electric bike and remove the battery.

    • Great but..

      I bought the bike for my wife 60th's birthday and she got addicted to it, using it every single day for work, a 6 miles ride with a high ill around Wimbledon anssheisnotthe sport kind at all. After 2 months we had this issue of the connectors dropping especially when there are bumps on the road. The workshop at Wandsworth sorted out the cables fine. But last week, it started to become temperamental and it seems there is a conexion issue that Décathlon seems to be familiar with. They immediately offered money back or to get a new one from the Surrey Quays shop where they have 14 in stock. It is a shame it is not that reliable and my wife really feels frustrated not being able to use for the last 3 days. Addiction.. I tell you!

      I bought this bike to make a 4.5mile cross city commute to the train station a bit easier. The bike performed this task very well. It accelerates you well up to ~15mph saving your legs away from junctions and traffic lights. If you put it into sport mode you can get across junctions very quickly indeed (obviously depends on your weight, I am about 83kg), very useful for when no car driver wants to let you across. When you are feeling less than 100% you can put less effort in and the bike will do more keeping you going at a decent speed. When I came to a hill I put it into sport mode. This would get me up the hill (Athelstan Road, Southampton) at a moderate speed with a moderate effort instead of a slow speed with a huge effort. I am moderately fit and often rode above the assist speed of 15.5mph so the battery easily lasted a week (45miles) before needed recharging. The folding of the bike is quick and easy. I usually folded down the bars and the frame allowing the front wheel nut to wedge against the rear wheel mud guard support, then the saddle can be used as a handle to wheel the bike along on the front wheel. Getting it onto a train is then ok, you do not have to use the cycle carriage(usually full). It doesn't fold to a tiny volume but is no bigger than a large suit case. It does weigh about 20kg though which will feel heavy to some people. The handle on the frame makes it very easy to carry up/down stairs folded or unfolded (still 20kg though). The problem with the bike is that the electrics are not robust enough to deal with Southampton's bumpy roads. The first one I bought lasted for about 8 weeks of use, about 300miles, before the electric started cutting out on bumps then eventually would not turn back on again. I think there was a dodgy connection behind the battery connectors in the frame but as there was a 'void if removed' sticker I was not going to tinker with it. The replacement bike I got lasted 2 weeks, 90 miles, before doing the same! At this point I lost confidence and got a refund. This is a very difficult bike to ride up a hill with no electric assist! The customer service at decathlon was exemplary and I really hope they are able to diagnose the problem and fix it for future bikes.

    • Battery is a problem

      My wife and I have one each and both enjoy riding the Hoptown 500. The main problem is battery life and reliability. I managed to get two spares after multiple enquiries and phone calls. One battery has failed after a year's use.
      Problems
      1) Why are the batteries not available online ?
      2) Even trying to order from a Decathlon store, they are not stock items and have to be ordered as 'repairs'
      This should have been sorted by Decathlon long ago - it spoild an otherwise good product
    • Great bike - poor battery

      Bought the bike for my wife last Christmas. Used it for the first time whilst on holiday in Spain.worked fine on electric the first day, but then the battery went flat and would not recharge. The charger is OK - checked with a voltmeter and put out around 24 volts. Went to the Oxford store for a replacement battery. The staff were excellent but unfortunately there was not a spare in store. The assistant rang around all of the U.K. Stores that supposedly had batteries in stock but was unable to get one for us. He is still trying (all credit to him for perseverance) and will call us in 5 days with an update on availability. My wife is quite upset that she cannot use the bike as it was intended. When it works it is superb - pity is didn't last long! Not sure how to review the product from the point of view of recommend or not because as previously stated it is great when it works. It seems all of the spare batteries in the UK are allocated to customers awaiting to be picked up. Does this mean there is a general problem with them?
