Product feature
  1. Crosscontact sole
The design of the sole has been the subject of long research in our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to optimize the grip and the adhesion. The needs are not the same, we systematically seek the best compromise to evolve on mountainous ground as on flat ground.
  2. Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: Tested in the laboratory and in use, boots equipped with waterproof and breathable membrane ensure optimum protection against rain. First immersed in water under air pressure, the absence of bubbles is checked on the surface of the boot. Then they are placed, half submerged, on a mechanical arm simulating a step, we then check that the inside of the shoe remains perfectly dry.
  3. Waterproofing level
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry. The Forclaz 100 Waterproof boot passes level of 4000 flexes.
  4. Maintaining waterproofness
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. Using waterproof gaiters or mini gaiters is therefore recommended to keep your feet dry for longer by protecting the top part of your boots and prevent water from getting in as well as pebbles, sand, etc. Use of a re-waterproofing spray is recommended several times per year. This will help your boots recover their original water repellent qualities and combat outer stains.
  5. Buying tips
Try on both boots, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using you boots during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
  6. What size to choose?
When taking up hiking, do not hesitate to take a size above your usual size to guarantee an optimal comfort in downhill walking and to avoid your toes rubbing and hitting the top of the shoe. Tip: Before any descent, cut your toe nails and check that your laces are done up to prevent your foot from sliding forward in the shoe.
  7. Field tests
All our boots are tested in comfort and in use, by user’s representative of those for whom the products are designed, under conditions identical to those that you can find in use. Moreover, our "Missions Tests" bring together the product manager with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and validate the products.
  8. Lab Tests
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: Tearing of the eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, accelerated aging.

  • So comfy but only 1 flaw which is non-breathable

    07/10/2018
    Pratick (India)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I do understand the fact that waterproof shoes are not meant to be breathable but this is the 3rd generation product I am using so I can pretty much qualify to have an opinion on the fact. Earlier ones were not that comfortable but were a lot more breathable and I had worn them for more than 30 hours at a stretch so my humble request would be to work on the same.

  • Nice shoe ...but didnt last well

    19/09/2018
    Alistair (United Kingdom)
Used for More than 1 year
Bought these as lightweight all weather dog walking shoes. Like the weight and grippy soles. However the right shoe showed deterioration along leading edge of toe protector and sole started to part with upper. Culminated yesterday with sole coming away from upper about first 3rd of the shoe. Bought them last July and have been only used daily for walking the dogs. Disappointed as liked the shoe !
  • shoes not fit for trekking

    05/09/2018
    Prasad (India)
Used for 1 week or less
i was going for a trek which had rocks and since it had rained it was going to slippery. I checked with the decathlon person standing there and he recommended that this shoes should be good. I started trekking and realised this is the worst choice. I slipped 5 times and this being a mountainous terrain , the slips could have been disastrous. Just not suitable for trekking especially slippery surfaces. And shame on the decathlon staff who recommeded this. He could have cost somebody's life. Also since it was raining, had to wade through water. The shoes are still wet , even after two days of trek.
