    Product feature
The FREE 300 trousers are designed to protect for half a day skiing in snowy conditions (around 4 hours). To easily cope with bad weather (rain, snow, wind...), these trousers have been developed using a component and treatment that prevent water getting in. To check its water resistance, the trousers have been placed under a special shower that reproduces the conditions a skier could be confronted with.
Thermal insulation keeps the skier or snowboarder at the right temperature: not too warm, nor too cold. The garment then adapts to the physical behaviour of the body and the outside environment. We use wadding for insulation to keep you warm. The wadding is a synthetic material with a polyester base that stores a greater or lesser quantity of air depending on the size of fibres used. The thicker the wadding, the more air there is, and the warmer it is.
Water repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. Wed'ze trousers are made with a water-repellent component that prolongs resistance to bad weather and prevents water from getting in. It is an additional technical solution to make sure you stay dry as long as possible throughout the day. You should repeat this treatment regularly using products sold in our stores to maintain these properties.
The coating is a waterproof "substance" that is spread on the inner side of the fabric. It prevents water from seeping into the garment but allows the water vapour produced by an active body to escape. So you will stay dry and comfortable while hitting the slopes
Only those seams most exposed to the rain/snow are made watertight with special tape. This often applies to buttocks, thighs and knees. The same goes for zips, they are critical points for garment waterproofing: they must be completely waterproof when closed.
To find out if a fabric is breathable, its evaporative resistance, called RET (standardized test ISO 11092), is measured. That's its ability to let the vapour produced by the body during physical exertion escape, to avoid having too much water on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. Wedze uses technical components and solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh) preventing condensation inside the garment. FREE 300 trousers RET: 12
We take particular care in choosing all the elements used in our products. The durable materials and sturdy assemblies are tested during highly instructive testing days! In particular, our trousers are all equipped with edge protection panels at the ankles to minimise any damage to the trousers from the ski edges.
To be prepared for all types of weather, layering is the best option. However, you shouldn't do it with just any kind of garments: In direct contact with the skin, choose high-tech, warm but also breathable liner-trousers (for perspiration wicking). There's nothing worse than having wet legs due to sweating when out skiing. Avoid cotton and go for something synthetic, more breathable, better ventilated...
To determine whether a component is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower a fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by the body during sports can escape through the fabric, and the higher its breathability.

    • Misleading Size Chart

      Louise (United Kingdom)
Used for 1 week or less
After consulting the online sizing guide, it led me to believe that I was a Medium in pants, so I ordered Medium. I tried them on when they arrive, but they were way too big, I looked at the tag on the trousers and they said 'Small', so I exchanged them for an XS, those were also too big, third time lucky, the XXS small fits if I pull the straps as tight as they can go.
The size on the label does not match the size on the product, which does not match the sizing guide. I usually wear an 8 or small trousers, but an XXS barely fits.
So basically, don't trust anything this site or their clothing says.
I had to pay for both returns of the trousers. Decathlon doesn't refund you for their misleading information.

      Response of the brand

I am sorry about the inconvenience caused while purchasing this pair of ski trousers.
The size guide that is on the product page is better adapted to regular pants and shorts. I have reported this issue to our product manager in France in order to create a better option for ski pants.
Regarding the returns, we offer prepaid postage labels. I'm sorry you did not get one before doing your exchanges. Please contact our customer loyalty team to get a voucher or a full refund for your postage costs.
